PUBLIC BUILDINGS HOUSING DWELLING HOUSES CONCEPTS
Contemporary art gallery of Saarbruekken
competition entry
A piece of paper lying on the ground invites you to walk along it and become a hero of new book with constantly changing subject, together with other people, the sky and clouds, flying leaves, drifting shadows, flashing splashes of light – to leave your trace and vanish.

This is more similar to a sort of installation, to a part of museum collection, and in fact it is so. The new pavilion will be not only an exhibition hall, but also an exhibit itself transforming all events into work of art and inviting us to act in the same spirit as a little girl on one of Dali's paintings, to lift the “skin” of the sea and submerge yourself in one of the most vivid metaphysical spaces bearing more similarity to the anatomical cross-section of our common space environment.
Absence of the building or more specifically sensation of its queer presence stimulated by a red quoin of the main entrance – these words describe nature of the new pavilion and the art, for presentation of which it is designed.
The design concept is based on the reinforced concrete parallelepiped covered with reinforced concrete monolithic spatial construction and filled with monolithic semi-transparent glass blocks. The parallelepiped stood on pillars within the reinforced concrete pool. Space between walls of the new pavilion and the pool is designed as the drainage canal in order to protect the building from floods.
